Branches Houston Outpatient Mental Health: Why Choose Us?
Every life stage brings its own hurdles. Our outpatient programs are designed specifically for adolescents and adults, with services shaped around what each group needs most.
West Oaks Hospital has been part of the Houston community for more than 40 years. Branches Houston carries that tradition forward by offering outpatient care that connects you with structured outpatient support.
Highlights of our program include:
- Teen mental health: Outpatient groups give adolescents space to work through issues such as peer pressure, bullying and self-esteem. Therapists use art, journaling, yoga and group discussion to help your child process what they’re experiencing. We also emphasize healthy coping methods and communication tactics.
- Adult mental health: People 18 and older come to Branches Houston for support with concerns like depression, anxiety and life transitions. We are a dependable place to sort through challenges and find encouragement from peers and professionals. Many people leave with a renewed sense of hope for the future.
- Special services: Branches Houston is located on the West Oaks Hospital campus, giving you access to additional resources. Whenever possible, we use our gym, pool and other amenities to help ease stress during treatment. These added options give you more ways to care for your mind and body as part of recovery.
Outpatient Mental Health Levels of Care
Branches Houston offers two levels of outpatient mental health treatment so you get structured support tailored to your stage of recovery.
Partial hospitalization program (PHP)
Partial hospitalization, our full-time program, meets on weekdays. Adults attend PHP in the mornings from 8 a.m. to noon. Teens come in the afternoons from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m.
Intensive outpatient program (IOP)
Our part-time option meets for fewer hours several days a week. Adults attend from 10 a.m. to noon and teens from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. The intensive outpatient program’s shorter sessions make it easier to stay connected to care while balancing daily responsibilities, like school or work.
Schedule an Assessment
A level-of-care mental health assessment is one of the first steps toward receiving outpatient care at Branches Houston. Walk in, call or schedule online to meet with a mental health professional. If you are eligible, you may be able to start treatment the same day. Contact us to learn more.
Branches Houston Outpatient Mental Health: What to Expect
Our outpatient services bring together several kinds of support to help teens and adults make meaningful progress:
- Group therapy: Take part in therapeutic activities, share experiences and learn from other people facing similar challenges.
- Individual sessions: You spend time one-on-one with a therapist so we can focus on your personal goals.
- Medication management: Clinicians review mental health medications you may be taking and make adjustments as needed to help you feel your best.
- Family involvement: When helpful, family sessions give you and your loved ones opportunities to improve communication and support progress at home.
- Coordination with schools: For adolescents, we provide updates so school staff understand how to support your child between sessions.
- Discharge planning: From your first day with us, we begin planning for what comes next. We can connect you with community providers and helpful resources so you get ongoing care after you leave.
For adults, if illness or unexpected events keep you from attending in person, telehealth may be available as a short-term way to stay connected to treatment.
